A Gala Event

Former U.S. intelligence officer turned whistleblower Edward Snowden is this year's special guest and honouree at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association annual gala. He'll be joining us via a live link from Russia as part of the evening in which we celebrate civil liberties and human rights activists, toasting the achievements of remarkable Canadians.

On April 27, 2017, the CCLA will celebrate the achievements of extraordinary Canadians from all walks of life — film, sports, journalism, music, business, law, activism, literature, and more. We expect up to 200 guests from the Toronto legal community, as well as prominent figures from the political and business worlds. This year we are honouring Katherine Govier, Irwin Cotler, Ben Makuch, Jim Bronskill, Roberta Bondar, and more.

Proceeds from the evening will support Canadian Civil Liberties Education Trust (CCLET) and CCLA’s work in defending and upholding civil liberties in Canada. (Learn more about CCLA)
